Dear Parents,

Our goal is to take the benefits of martial arts out of the martial arts school and have it applied in the lives of our students. Each belt will have three discipline stripes that must be earned to advance to the next belt, these stripes require actions that are over and above the black curriculum stripes earned during classes. Follow the guide outlined below to achieve each discipline stripe:

 

1st Discipline stripe: we are asking the student to do 1 week of chores of your choice.
• Assignment Due: within the first 2 weeks after a student receives their belt


2nd Discipline stripe:
we are asking the student to complete 1 week of reading for 20 minutes a day. We recommend a book, but you have the final say.
• Assignment Due: 2 weeks after receiving the student’s first black curriculum stripe


3rd Discipline stripe:
we are asking the student to complete 10 push ups, 10 squats, 10 sit ups each day for 1 week.
• Assignment due: 2 weeks after receiving the student’s second black curriculum stripe

 

As a parent, you have the final say as to the level of completion you would like your child to attain for each discipline. The quantity of the assignments is not as important as the discipline it takes to complete them. Our ultimate goal is to build the students’ discipline to improve the home, academic and physical areas of their lives.

 

NOTE: Discipline stripes precede curriculum stripes, which means in order for the student to receive their first black curriculum stripe, they must already have the first green discipline stripe on their belt.
